Black Wall Street Southeast Greensboro (BWS) is proud to offer a range of incentive programs aimed at driving transformative redevelopment across the Southeast Greensboro community. These programs are designed to encourage private investment, stimulate economic growth, foster job creation, and improve the overall quality of life for residents in our community.
Launched in the Summer of 2024, the Porch Initiative by Black Wall Street (BWS) is a cornerstone of our commitment to fostering community connection and revitalization. This program transforms porches into welcoming spaces that enhance neighborhood engagement, celebrate cultural heritage, and create a sense of belonging for residents.
Through this initiative, BWS supports homeowners in upgrading their porches, offering design consultations, funding assistance, and community-driven workshops to reimagine these spaces as vibrant hubs of activity. Whether for family gatherings, storytelling, or simply relaxing, the Porch Initiative symbolizes our dedication to rebuilding Southeast Greensboro—one home at a time.
The “Capture and Convey” initiative is a powerful approach to community development that focuses on acquiring, revitalizing, and transferring properties to uplift and empower BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) communities.
Capture and Convey refers to the process of:
Capturing: Purchasing and renovating properties that are underutilized, abandoned, or undervalued within historically underserved areas.
Conveying: Showcasing these properties to the community and selling or renting them to individuals, families, or businesses—prioritizing equitable access and affordability for BIPOC buyers or tenants.
